Smart Bird Feeder with Camera and Squirrel Proof Pole Bundle, 4K Solar — Perchmont
Smart Bird Feeder with Camera and Squirrel Proof Pole Bundle, 4K Solar — Perchmont
A camera feeder is only as good as where you can put it. Hang it from a branch and the squirrels find it in a week; mount it on a fence and you're filming the neighbour's shed.
This bundle pairs our flagship 4K camera feeder with the 104" squirrel proof pole, so you can put the feeder exactly where the light and the background are right — out in the open, above jumping height, with nothing for a squirrel to launch from.
What's included: 4K AI camera feeder with solar roof, 104" squirrel proof pole with dual baffles, all mounting hardware, free Perchmont app. No monthly fees.
Bought together, you save $19 against buying them separately.

What seed to use
What seed to use
Black oil sunflower is the single most effective seed. Thin shell, high fat, and almost every garden bird takes it.
Safflower is the quiet alternative — cardinals, chickadees and finches eat it happily, while most squirrels, grackles and starlings do not.
Skip cheap supermarket mixes. Most of it is milo and cracked corn, which birds throw on the ground looking for the sunflower buried in it.
Where to put it
Where to put it
Around ten feet from cover — close enough that birds have somewhere to escape to, far enough that nothing can spring from it.
Windows matter: either within three feet of the glass or more than thirty feet away. The middle distance is where collisions happen.
Five to six feet high. High enough to be awkward for cats and squirrels, low enough that you can actually refill it without a ladder.

Setup and compatibility
Setup and compatibility
Connects to 2.4GHz WiFi. Most cameras do not support 5GHz, so check what your router broadcasts before ordering.
Solar charging needs several hours of direct sun. If your best spot is shaded, add the Solar Panel and Battery Kit — its 10ft cable lets the panel sit in sun while the feeder stays in cover.
Allow two to three weeks before birds treat a new feeder as reliable. Moving it because nothing came in five days resets that clock.

Species ID
It tells you what just landed
Most people can name three or four garden birds. Automatic identification names the rest — the ones you have been seeing for years without knowing what they were.
Included. No monthly fee, no premium tier.
Dawn
The best twenty minutes happen without you
Cardinals are among the first birds at a feeder in the morning and among the last to leave at dusk. If you are only seeing them occasionally, it may simply be that you are not looking at 5:40am.
The camera is.
Shade vs solar
Birds want cover. Panels want sun.
The spot birds feel safest in is usually the shadiest part of the garden, which is the worst place for a solar panel. Worth thinking about before you mount anything.
If your only good spot is shaded, an extended panel on a 10ft cable solves it.
