Poles, power kits and the hardware that lets a camera feeder work where you actually want to put it.

Two problems come up constantly. The first is squirrels — and clearance matters more than the pole, because squirrels rarely climb a pole so much as jump to it from a fence, shed roof or branch. Ten feet of clear space in every direction solves most of it.

The second is that the spot birds feel safest in is usually the shadiest part of the garden, which is the worst place for a built-in solar panel. An extended panel on a 10ft cable lets the panel sit in sun while the feeder stays in cover.
