Perchmont makes bird feeders and nest boxes with cameras in them — and we don't charge you a subscription to use what you bought.

Why we started

Camera feeders were a genuinely good idea executed with a bad business model. Sell the hardware cheap, then rent the software back to the customer forever. Species identification behind a paywall. Video history that expires. Features that worked on Tuesday and needed an upgrade by Friday.

People in their sixties and seventies who just wanted to see which bird was on the feeder were being asked to manage a subscription. We thought that was backwards.

How we build

A bird feeder lives outside through rain, snow, and full summer sun. Most of them aren't built for it — the plastic yellows, the seal fails, and by the second winter it's in the bin.

We build for the second winter. Sealed housings. Solar charging, so you're not taking the feeder down every few weeks to bring a battery indoors. Hardware that holds on a real post in real weather.

The app stays free

Every Perchmont camera includes full species identification and unlimited viewing for the life of the product. There is no premium tier, because there is nothing held back. That is a commitment, not an introductory offer.

If something goes wrong

Every product carries a one-year warranty against defects. If something fails within that year, we replace it.
